The JYJ member recently won Rookie Of The Year at the Beautiful Artists Awards which was held at the Seoul Press Center International Ceremony Hall this past weekend. Park Yoochun was recognized for his work on the film The Sea Fog.
Along with his award, Park receieved 20 million won in prize money, which is estimated around $18,000 USD.
"I was happy when an article about my award also stated that I would be getting prize money," joked Park as he accepted the honor. "All joking aside, the money isn't as important as the fact that I'm actually standing here accepting this award, which I had not even dreamed of winning."
According to the star, he will be sharing the prize with the staff members who worked hard on The Sea Fog with him.
The Sea Fog is Park Yoochun's official big screen debut and his portrayal of Dong-sik, the youngest crew member on an ill-fated fishing vessel has led to critical acclaim. The film was directed by Shim Sung Bo and is based on the true story of the 25 illegal Chinese immigrants who were left to suffocate to death in the storage tank of the fishing vessel, Taechangho.

Yoochun says he’s ‘too honored’ to receive award

“I am too honored and grateful today to stand here and receive such a big award. I was also happy to know that I am receiving a lot of prize money. I plan to use it with the staff members,” Park said in his acceptance speech.
“After debuting on the big screen, I have been insisting on participating in movies rather than TV drama series. This is giving my agency a hard time on deciding my next work,” he added, revealing his passion for acting in more films.

So far, Park has already won four Best Rookie Actor awards this year, and is aiming to seize another victory at the 35th Blue Dragon Film Awards.
The grand prize for the 4th Beautiful Artist Award went to actor Choi Min-sik, the hero of the hit film “Roaring Currents.”

Park Yoochun Awarded Rookie of the Year at Beautiful Artists Awards
Actor Park Yoochun, also from the group JYJ, won the Rookie Award at the fourth Beautiful Artists Awards.
Park Yoochun received prize money of 20 million won (18,000 USD) along with his award at the Seoul Press Center International Ceremony Hall.
“I was happy when an article about my award also stated that I would be getting prize money,” confessed Park Yoochun. “All joking aside, the money isn’t as important as the fact that I’m actually standing here accepting this award, which I had not even dreamed of winning.”
“I was lucky to debut in a movie, and once I had a taste of acting for the big screen, I fell in love with it,” he added. “Thank you for awarding me with this honor, and I will use this to further my passion for acting.”
He claimed he would use his prize money “with his staff.”
Park Yoochun made his debut as “Dongsik” in the film, “Haemoo,” directed by Shim Sung Bo.
